macOS: First Time Opening

macOS shows a security warning for apps not from the App Store:

Open .dmg and drag app to Applications

Try to open — click “Cancel” on warning

Go to System Settings → Privacy & Security

Click “Open Anyway”

You only need to do this once.

Android: Installing the APK

Since the app isn't from the Play Store, allow installation from your browser:

Tap the Download .apk button

Tap “Download anyway” if prompted

Open the file and tap “Install”

Enable “Install from this source” if asked

Troubleshooting

macOS: Alternative Terminal Command

If the above method doesn't work, open Terminal and run:

xattr -cr /Applications/The\ Recitation.app

Then double-click the app to open it normally.

Windows: SmartScreen Warning

Windows may show a SmartScreen warning:

  1. Click “More info”
  2. Click “Run anyway”
Linux: Making AppImage Executable

After downloading, you may need to make it executable:

chmod +x The-Recitation-1.0.0.AppImage

Then double-click or run ./The-Recitation-1.0.0.AppImage

Android: Can't Install APK

If installation is blocked:

  1. Go to Settings → Apps → Special app access
  2. Tap “Install unknown apps”
  3. Select your browser and enable “Allow from this source”
  4. Try downloading and installing again
